There is an art exhibition at the Tower of London in Great Britain at the moment. It is called the Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red. This exhibit marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War One and it commemorates the 888,246 British soldiers who were killed during WWI. The exhibit is the brainchild of ceramic artist Paul Cummins and stage designer Tom Piper. Together, with a team of artists and volunteers, they have handmade a ceramic poppy for each soldier who gave their life for Great Britain in the war to end all wars and then placed the poppies in the moat around the Tower of London. It is a sea of red. We have two families from Knox who have been in the UK this fall who have seen the exhibit with their own eyes and both have said to me that the pictures do not do this exhibit justice. They described it as powerful, moving, and beyond anything they have ever seen before.
